Indore: A mother sold her 15-day-old innocent newborn child for Rs 5.5 lakh in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district.

Reportedly, she had sold a through touts and the incident came to light after a social worker filed a police complaint following which police registered a case against 8 people of which 6 people have been sent to jail.

However, two are still absconding in the case.

As per the police, the child is of Shaina B who got married to Antar Singh alias Vishal, a resident of Gauri Nagar in the city for the second time. When Shaina became pregnant, Antar Singh wanted to get the child aborted but it could not happen. Following this, Singh hatched a plan to sell the child.

Later, when the child was born, he was sold within 15 days to Leena, a resident of Dewas for 5.5 lakh via touts and police came to know about the same after two months of this incident.

Police arrested the child's mother, Shaina, Leena, who bought the child, and four others - Neha Suryavanshi, Pooja Verma, Neha Verma, and Neelam Verma who were involved in helping Shaina to sell her child.

A case of human trafficking was registered against them. Shayna's husband Antar Singh is currently absconding.
